The Joint Committee of Executive Officers have decided to engage in a countrywide token strike next week citing anomalies in their allowances.
Chartered Engineer D Abeysiriwardena, a member of the union said that the strike would take place on Wednesday (Sept 4).
He pointed out that the implementation of a cabinet paper put forward recently could cause discrepancies in the allowances of Administrative Officers.
The unionist added that officers attached to 12 industries including Ayurveda, Engineering, Scientific Services, Planning, Architecture, Surveyor, Accountant, Education, and Administration would engage in the strike.
