A 44 year old government servant was shot dead by unidentified pistol gang today morning in Ampara, police said. The victim was identified as Satchithanantham Mathithayan, a Social Services Officer (SSO) attached to the Navithanveli Divisional Secretariat. The killing was believed to be due to a family dispute.

A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
