The Police and the armed forces will engage in an island-wide exercise this week to obtain particulars of every household which will have to be submitted by means of a Declaration Form.
This exercise is expected to be mainly carried out at apartments in Colombo before it would be expanded across all Grama Niladhari divisions in the country. This was revealed during discussions which took place during the National Security Council (NSC) sessions.
The system of obtaining declaration forms containing the details of every household had been non-operational since it was implemeneted during the LTTE war. However, it will now be re-implemented this week due to the current situation of the country.
Further it was revealed during the NSC meeting that severe measures will be taken against the people who fail to submit the exact particulars and render their assistance to the government in this regard.
