The government has decided to repay Microfinance loans obtained by women in 12 districts due to the drought in the country.
Accordingly, women who have obtained loans less than Rs 100,000 and not for their consumption needs would be qualified for this loan exemption project.
Measures have been taken by the government to pay back loans to lending institutions while a ceritificate confirming the repayment would be distributed among those who had obtained the loans.
A special ceremony would be held to distribute the said certificates to 300 women residing in Kilinochchi and Jaffna.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera would attend this event that would be held at the Weerasingham Hall in Jaffna.
