A hand grenade was thrown at a abandoned house located near by a polling centre in Alwai, Point Pedro, Center Monitoring Election Violence (CMEV) said today. A polling booth has been set up at Alwai Srilanka Vidayalayam which is located 600 meters away from the location of the explosion. Police said no injuries reported in the explosion and the police personnels are conducting the investigations are going on at the location. However the polling has not been affected by the explosion.

A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
