The Indian Mi-17 helicoptor that was part of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's entourage and which was grounded due to a technical fault left for India this morning after technical repairs.
Prime Minister Modi flew to Kandy on his visit to Sri Lanka last week as Chief Guest of the 14th United Nations International Vesak Day celebrations. He paid homage to the Dalada Maligawa on his visit to Kandy. However, one of the Mi-17 helicoptors which was part of PM Modi's delegation developed a technical issue and had to be grounded.
A team of about 20 Indian Air Force technicians had reportedly arrived in the country to repair the helicoptor and they finally finished repairs to the chopper this morning.
Reports say that the Indian team also visited the Dalada Maligawa and paid homage.
