H.M.D.B. Herath to fill void of MP Dissanayake in Parliament
H M D B Herath has been nominated to fill the vacancy in Parliament following the demise of Parliamentarian Salinda Dissanayake, a gazette issued by the Elections Commission said.
Mr. Herath, who had previously served as a provincial minister in the North Western Province, will represent the Kurunegala District under the United People's Freedom Alliance banner.
His name had been proposed by the Returning Officer of the Kurunegala District.
Parliamentarian Dissanayake passed away earlier last month while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.
