UNP MP Harsha de Silva has condemned the false statements made by the Secretary General of the National Economic Council Lalith Samarakoon on the liabilities of the country.
Addressing the cabinet briefing today (Nov 22), Mr. Samarakoon said that Sri Lanka's liabilities for the year 2019 amounted to US$ 1500 mn .
However, MP Silva taking to his official Twitter handle said that Mr. Samarakoon had not mentioned other liabilities which amount upto US$ 5600 mn for the year 2019.
At Cabinet brief @MaithripalaS NEC Sec Gen Samarakoon misleads everyone saying only USD 1,500m ISBs repayments to be made in 2019. Doesn’t mention other liabilities. FACT 1: #SriLanka has repayments of USD 5,600m in 2019. FACT 2: Moody’s downgrades is due to political crisis. pic.twitter.com/RyaHJWkvEU
