A hartal campaign is currently underway in the Northern province demanding the return of those who disappeared during the war.
Protestors including relatives of the disappeared called on the government to deliver a solution while measures to support to the families of those who lost their lives during the war.
The hartal was launched against the backdrop of the commencement of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) sessions set to commence today (Feb 25).
Trade unions also pledged their support by closing down shops in the Jaffna, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, Mannara and Mullaitivu districts.
A low turnout was also recorded in schools in the Northern Province.
