Hearing of Gnanasara Thera's appeal postponed

The Homagama Magistrate's Court today postponed the hearing of the appeal of Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera until 2.00pm on June 22. 

On June 14, Gnanasara Thera was sentenced to 1-year’s Rigorous Imprisonment to be served in 6 months, after finding him guilty of threatening Sandya Ekneligoda, wife of missing journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda, at the Homagama Magistrate’s Court premises. The Magistrate also fined the Thera Rs 3,000 and ordered him to pay Rs 50,000 to Mrs Ekneligoda as compensation.

Lawyers representing Gnanasara Thera filed an appeal with the Homagama Magistrate's Court on the same day, to be forwarded to the Homagama High Court.
