Heat index expected to rise to 'Extreme Caution' levels in some areas
The Department of Meteorology stated that the Heat index is expected to reach the ‘Extreme Caution’ level in places like the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western provinces and in Galle, Matara, Monaragala districts.
The Heat index calculates the temperature felt by the human body when relative humidity is combined with the air temperature.
The Met Department pointed out that if this level continues heat cramps and heat exhaustion are possible health effects during this period.
