Heavy rains cause a rise in water levels in Kalu, Gin River and Atthanagalu Oya
Heavy rains have contributed to a rise in water levels in rivers and as such the Kalu, Gin River and Atthanagalu Oya have risen to its maximum capacity, according to the Irrigation department.
Officials have warned those living downstream to be cautious of flooding. Following divisions were asked to be on alert
Kalu Ganga: Madurawala, Horana, Palindanuwara, Bulathsinhala, Ingiriya DS Div.
Gin Ganga: Baddegama, Bope Poddala, Welivita-Divithura, Nagoda, Niyagama, Thawalama and Neluwa DS divisions.
Atthanagalu Oya: Negombo, Minuwangoda, Ja-Ela and Gampaha DS div. Including Ja-Ela road, Gampaha-Minuwangoda road.
