Heavy rain falls ranging from (100mm-150mm) can be expected in the Western, Southern Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces particularly in Galle, Matara, Ratnapura and Kaluthara districts, Department of Meteorology said in its tomorrow's weather forecast.
"Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces. Showers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere particularly after 2.00 p.m," it said.
Heavy falls (about 100-150mm) are expected at some places, particularly in the Ratnapura, Kaluthara, Galle and Matara districts. Fairly heavy falls (about 75mm) are expected at some places elsewhere.
The department also warned of there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
On the apparent southward relative motion of the sun, it is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka during 27th of August and 06th of September in this year. The nearest towns of Sri Lanka which the sun will be directly overhead tomorrow are Telwatta, Baddegama, Deegala, Mulatiyana, Jandura, Attanawala and Udamalala about 12.09 noon.
