Update: IGP Pujith Jayasundara has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department a short while ago, police said.
The arrest had been made at the Police Hospital in which he was receiving treatment since today morning.
Hemasiri Fernando arrested by CID
Former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) a short while ago.
Mr. Fernando had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Cardiology Unit at the Colombo General Hospital this morning.
He was issued notice to appear before the CID along with IGP Pujith Jayasundara after the Attorney General instructed their arrest yesterday (Jul 1).
Meanwhile, IGP Jayasundara is also being questioned by the CID at the Police Hospital in which he is currently receiving treatment.
