A high altitude sports complex is to be constructed in Nuwara Eliya with partial funding from UK Export Finance and the People's Bank.
The sports complex will be constructed at 1895 metres above sea level in Nuwara Eliya since the average height for high altitude training is between 1500 - 3500 metres.
Asia's tallest high altitude training centre is located in China at a height of 1899 metres above sea level.
Athletes will be trained at this sports complex in order to groom their physical stamina and fitness to compete at international sporting events.
