The Colombo High Court today imposed a death sentence on a suspect who was arrested for being in possession and transporting 29.43 grams of heroin in 2017.
High Court Judge Shashi Mahendran had ordered that both charges which were filed against the suspect were proven beyond reasonable doubt.
The suspect has been identified as Shanmugam Ilankoovan, 40, who is a father of two.
The Attorney General claimed that the suspect had committed the offence on December 11, 2017.
