Former Governor M L A M HIzbullah yesterday (Jun 14) provided a three-hour statement before the presidential commission probing state sector corruption, on the Batticaloa Campus which is under construction.
The Presidential Commission had obtained a statement from Mr. Hizbullah in an ongoing preliminary investigation on a complaint filed by Ven Thiniyawala Palitha Thera against him.
Mr. Hizbullah had appeared before the Commission in his capacity as the founder of the Batticaloa Campus which has sparked controversy in the recent past.
In his testimony, the former Governor had said that this Campus had not been registered under the University Grants Commission since it is a private organisation.
He had also noted that the Campus was run by his son who serves as its Chairman.
