Heavy rains and strong winds caused severe damage to houses and other structures in several districts in the early hours of this morning (6).
In Puttalam, the adverse weather caused damage to 74 houses as well as locations where fishing boats were. Puttalam District Secretary Chandrasiri Bandara stated that the winds caused damage to houses in Wanathawilluwa, Mundalama, Karuwalagaswewa, Pallagama and Naththandiya Divisional Secretariat Divisions.
Meanwhile, 11 houses in Galewela were damaged by the strong winds.
