Over Rs 800 million worth of banned and restricted items have been taken in to custody by the Customs, Additional Director General Sunil Jayarathne said yesterday (21).
Among the items apprehended were turmeric, foreign liquor, cheese, pasta, vegetable oil and olive oil.
These banned items have been concealed among goods sent by Sri Lankans living in Italy to their relatives here.
