The first mass funeral of victims in last Sunday's explosion at the St. Sebastians Church in Katuwapitiya was held today (Apr 23) as the country marks a day of mourning.
The remains of the victims were brought to the Katuwapitiya Church before being brought for burial by the relatives of the deceased at the Don David cemetry. Arrangements have also been made to carry out the burial of certain bodies at the Sellakandal Cemetry.
Security has been strengthened in the area with police, tri-forces and Special Task Force personnel being deployed for security.
