Executive grade workers at the Colombo Port held a protest demonstration at the port this afternoon demanding that the government immediately start work on the East Container Terminal (ECT) operations under the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA).
Trade unions declared a 'Black Week' at the port commencing from today. They also started wearing black armbands in protest.
Ven. Elle Gunawansa Thera also visited the scene of the protest this afternoon and the port workers handed him a letter to be submitted to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
