The Election Commission today (Oct 7) officially declared that a record 35 presidential candidates would contest at the presidential election on November 16.
Polls Chief Mahinda Deshapriya said that a cost of more than Rs 4 billion would have to be incurred to conduct the election due to the high amount of candidates.
