In Pictures: Salawa camp explosion

The Sunday Times Photodesk captured these images during the explosion at the ammunition dump of the Kosgama army camp in Salawa last night. Military personnel and firefighters had to wage an intense battle to bring the flames under control while also being mindful of exploding ammunition. Area residents who lived within a 6km radius of the army camp were evacuated to safety following the incident.
