An Indian worker has been hospitalised after being attacked by a wild elephant in Puttalam today (Dec 26).
The victim had been attacked and carried into a jungle by the elephant when he had stepped out of a welding workshop where he was employed.
The 32-year old man who hails from India's South Eastern city of Andhra Pradesh, had then been admitted to the Puttalam Base Hospital.
Wildlife officers who had arrived at the location had taken steps to chase the elephant into a forest reserve in the area.
