The Indian national who was remanded over the alleged VIP assassination plot was acquitted by the Colombo Fort Magistrates court today (Feb 27).
Issuing the verdict, the acting magistrate had announced that the suspect would not be subjected to any further legal proceedings in connection to the assassination plot.
However, Marcelli Thomas, the Indian national was remanded until March 13 over separate charges levelled against him for violating immigration laws.
Meanwhile, former DIG Nalaka de Silva further remanded until the said date in connection with the alleged assassination plot.
