An indonesian aircraft made an emergency landing at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) owing to low cabin pressure yesterday (Apr 02).
The plane, an A-330 flight belonging to the Garuda Indonesia Airline, was carrying 338 passengers onboard at the time of the incident, the Duty Manager of the Airport said.
It is reported that the flight had taken off from the Banda Aceh Airport in Indonesia and was heading towards the Jeddah Airport in Saudi Arabia.
Special arrangements had been made to deploy fire trucks and ambulances at the airport prior to the arrival of the flight which had touched Lankan soil at around 9 pm.
The passengers who were on board the plane were directed to a hotel in the vicinity of the airport following its arrival. Meanwhile, further investigations are being carried out by Aviation Engineers into the incident.
