The Appeal Court's interim order preventing imported waste containers from being transported into the country has been extended until October 21.
The order had been issued after the Centre for Environemental Justice (CEJ) moved court seeking an order to prevent waste containers which had been imported recently to be dumped in the country.
At present, 111 waste containers lie at the Colombo Port while 130 waste containers have been placed at a hub owned by Hayleys Plc in Katunayake.
During today's hearing, the Appeal Court ordered the Attorney General to instruct the Government Analyst's Department to carry out a test on all these containers.
The Director General of the Customs Department, Central Environment Authority, and Hayleys Free Zone Ltd. have been named as respondents to the petition.
