President Maithripala Sirisena instructs the Inspector General of Police to carry out a proper investigation regarding the disappearance of Police Sergeant Mr. Gunathilaka who worked in special raid unit of the office of Deputy Inspector General of Police. The President gave this instruction to the Inspector General of Police Mr. N. K. Illangakoon, after seeing a report titled “What happened to Police Sergeant after the verbal statement on treasure hunting – President uncle, please find our father”, published in a Sunday national newspaper last week quoting the child of the missing person. The newspaper report says Sergeant Gunathillaka has been missing since last August 07. President Sirisena instructed the Inspector General of Police to conduct a special investigation immediately and submit a report. Accordingly, Special Investigation Unit of the Police has started investigations on this disappearance.
