The investigations into CID's Chief Police Inspector Nishantha de Silva leaving the country have reached its final stages, a senior officer said.
Statements have been recorded by the special investigation unit of police headquarters from over 20 police personnel regrding the incident, the high ranking officer added.
These statements have been recorded from among a group from the department, including the present director of the CID and former director Senior Police Superintendent Shani Abeysekera, further added this high ranking officer.
A special investigation unit of the police headquarters began an investigation into Chief Inspector Nishantha de Silva, who was the investigating officer in several investigations conducted by the CID during the previous government. He left overseas without obtaining leave officially.
The high ranking officer said that currently the investigations into this case have reached its final stages.
