The government has decided to temporarily suspend the issuing of a gazette notification regarding the collective agreement of the estate workers' wage increase.
This decision was announced following a meeting held between Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Tamil Progressive Alliance today (Feb 01).
During today's meeting, Ministers Mano Ganesan and P. Digambaram had explained to the Prime Minister that incentives worth Rs 140 have been removed from the latest wage revision.
Accordingly, it was decided to temporarily halt the issuance of the said gazette until February 5.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
