The General Secretary of Ilankai Thamil Arasuk Katchi (ITAK) K. Thurairasasingham tendered his resignation papers today resigning from the post citing personal reasons, a party official confirmed.
He said he had forwarded his resignation papers to party leader Mavai Senathirajah and leader of Tamil National Alliance (TNA) R. Sampanthan today.
In his letter, he said since 2014, he has been functioning as the General Secretary of the party and his decision is purely based on personal reasons.
Earlier, there were disputes within the party soon after the recent general elections alleging the General Secretary had nominated a person for the party national list without informing the leader of the party.
