Students from the Jaffna University are protesting outside the Jaffna District Secretariat. According to reports the protest is causing traffic congestions along the main A9 road.
The students are demonstrating against the deaths of two third year students of the Arts faculty on Friday (October 21). The Criminal Investigation Department has been called in to handle the case. Five policemen attached to the Jaffna Police were arrested and remanded.
The President has ordered an independent and impartial investigation into the deaths of the students.
