Western Province Senior Deputy Inspector General (SDIG) of Police Jagath Abeysiri Gunawardena has been appointed as the SDIG for elections.
The appointment had been approved by the National Police Commission.
Accordingly, Mr. Gunawardena will also serve as the SDIG of the Western Province and Motor Traffic Division.
The final rites of veteran broadcaster, writer, and lyricist Nirmala de Alwis will be held today at Peradeniya.
