Janaka asks President to remove him from post

Former Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon has written to President Maithripala Sirisena requesting that he be removed from the position of Co-Chairperson of the Matale District Development Committee.

He told journalists yesterday that he had been appointed under the new Government as Co-Chair of Dambulla, Galewela and Pallepola Development Committees. He said he had not accepted those positions but had later learned from the media that he had subsequently been removed from those posts. 

The former Minister said he had sent the letter to President Sirisena asking that he be removed from his post of Matale District Development Committee Co-Chair. He claimed though he was given these positions he had been able to work while maintaining his dignity.
