The Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) will contest under a new front at the upcoming general election, party General Secretary, Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka was quoted as saying yesterday at a briefing. Minister Ranawaka said the JHU has decided to part with the the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA). He said they were trying to continue the battle of President Maithripala Sirisena to ensure good governance in the country. "We are confident that President Sirisena will extend guidance to our new front." he said. Responding to a question by a journalist regarding the name of the new front, Ranawaka said that they still have not finalised the name. "Our main intention is to establish good governance and disciplined politics in the country. We invite all politicians who accept good governance and democracy to join our party," he said. The minister added that giving nominations to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is a party decision.
