Former Minister Johnston Fernando's revision petition in a corruption case against him has been fixed for hearing on November 27 by the Appeal Court.
Fernando has been accused of causing losses worth Rs 40 million by deploying the services 153 employees of the Cooperative Wholesale Establishment for election campaigns between 2010 and 2014.
The Chief Magistrate’s Court at which the case had been filed by the Bribery and Corruption Commission had rejected Fernando’s objections over the case. An appeal filed at the Colombo High Court against this decision too had been rejected.
Accordingly, the former minister will make written submissions to the Appeal Court during the next hearing.
