JVP National List MP Sarath Mayadunne resigned from his post in Parliament today after making a speech explaining the reasons for his decision. Mr. Mayadunne said that the JVP had not received the mandate it expected from the people and he was disappointed by the caliber of some of the person who were elected to the house. The JVP stood up against corruption and other ills in society but people did not endorse their program. Hence I too have also been rejected by the people,” he said. - Chandani Kirinde
