Former Deputy Minister Vinyagamoorthy Muralitharan alias Karuna Amman is currently recording a statement at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID)over his recent statement of him killing soldiers when he was with the now defunct LTTE during the war.
This came after Acting IGP Chandana Wickramaratne had directed the CID to commence immediate probe into Karuna’s alleged statement, in which he claimed that he killed army soldiers between 2000 to 3000 in one night at the Elephant Pass.
Karuna, addressing a gathering in Navadinveli, Ampara had openly claimed that he had committed crimes when he was with the LTTE.
“When I was a member of the LTTE, I killed some 2000 to 3000 Sri Lankan army personnel in one night at Elephant Pass. I have killed more in Killinochchi. That is certainly higher than the number of lives the coronavirus has claimed in Sri Lanka,” he has said.
