UPDATE : The Karuwalagaswewa Pradeshiya Sabha member who was arrested for being in possession of 700mg of heroin was produced before the Anamaduwa Magistrate and ordered to be remanded until Aug 22.
A Karuwalagaswewa Pradeshiya Sabha member was arrested by the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for being in possession of 700mg worth of heroin.
The PNB made the arrest while conducting a search operation. The PS member was arrested while travelling in a three-wheeler along the Puttalam - Anamaduwa road.
The arrested PS member was handed over to the Anamaduwa Police for further questioning.
The suspect who is 28-years old is expected to be produced before the Anamaduwa Magistrate today.
