A male student of the Kelaniya university who had stabbed a first year female student over a personal dispute yesterday (Jun 14) has been remanded until June 18.
The order was issued when the suspect was produced before the Mahara Magistrate's Court today.
Court heard that the male student had attempted to commit suicide following the incident. A match box and a bottle of petrol were discovered inside his bag, police told court.
The female student who sustained injuries is currently receiving treatment at the Ragama Hospital.
