The OIC of the Kokkadichcholai police who was arrested yesterday (Jan 30) while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 has been remanded until February 08.
The remand order was issued by Batticaloa Magistrate A.C. Rizwan when the suspect was produced before courts today.
Magistrate Rizwan had also ordered the suspect to be produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrates Court for the next trial.
The suspect was arrested while he attempted to accept a bribe from a tipper driver identified as Jeganathan Arun, a resident of Batticaloa, who was transporting sand without a valid license.
