Korea Telecom Company was granted Cabinet approval to install LED street lamps in replacement to the traditional ones in the country.
A proposal was presented to Cabinet in this regard by Minister Vajira Abeywardena, Minister of Internal & Home Affaird, Provincial Councils and Local Government. The LED street lamps will be installed in Colombo and other areas (Apr 10).
The proposal to award the project's tender to Korea Telecom was put forward before cabinet on an earlier occasion following which a ministerial committee was appointed to study the project.
The committee had approved the proposal after considering the benefits of the project.
