Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday (Dec 22) stressed that the law would be imposed on all individuals regardless of their social status, in the event of any wrongdoing.
"We have given the respective units the required freedom to implement the law," the Prime Minister told a meeting with Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) activists in Wadduwa.
He observed that several factions are blaming the government in the event of any key arrest being made in the country. "No one inquires as to why they were arrested by the Police,'' Rajapaksa remarked.
The SLPP leader alleged that the previous government, as a means of political revenge, had filed lawsuits against members of his faction - who had eventually been acquitted by the courts.
