All Jaffna University students have been barred from entering the university premises until further notice, Jaffna University's Competent Authority, Prof K. Kandasamy said.
"Students are advised to refrain from entering into the university main premises and from taking part in all unauthorised activities," Prof. Kandasamy said in an announcement.
The announcement comes after a group of university students organised an event to commemorate the LTTE's Martyr's Day at the university today.
The Competent Authority had earlier instructed all students to refrain from organising memorial events on November 26 and 27 within the university premises in view of the LTTE's Martyr's Day.

The University of Jaffna has banned any form of memorial events on November 26 and 27 within its premises in view of the LTTE's Martyr's Day.
The Jaffna University's Competent Authority, Prof K. Kandasamy, in a letter, instructed Student Unions to adhere to the regulation in order to ensure a peaceful environment within the university premises.
The LTTE had designated November 27 as Martyrs Day to remember its fallen cadres.
However, earlier today, a group of university students organised an event to commemorate the LTTE's Martyr's Day.
