The Colombo Chief Magistrate has ordered news directors of all TV channels to submit video footage of the protest where UPFA MPs were displaying altered national flags. Kurunduwatte Police had complained to the Colombo Magistrate Court over the display of an altered national flag at a protest which took place in front of the Bribery Commission last week, in support of former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
