The celebration of the Mahashrivarathri festival reflects the light of unity within a diverse community of Sri Lankans, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said in his Mahashrivarathri message.
"Mahashivaratri is celebrated by Hindus across the globe to venerate Lord Shiva with great enthusiasm and with a hope for spiritual freedom attained through wisdom" the Prime Minister noted.
Futher Mr Wickremesinghe wished all Hindus a "blissful celebrations and spiritual wellbeing achieved through peace".
