The main suspect involved in the Kaltara shooting incident which took place on Jan 1 was arrested in Payagala today (Jan3), Police said.
Unidentified gunmen arrived in a motor vehicle and shot the victim in front of the Sithumina Hotel in Galle Road near the Thotupala Junction and fled the scene. It is believed that the reason behind the incident had been a prolonged dispute between the suspect and the victim.
Further, Police have recovered the firearm that was used during the shooting incident.
A person has been injured in a shooting incident that took place in Kalutara North police division last night.
The injured person identified as a 57-year-old named Pathiranage Patrick Peiris has been admitted to the Nagoda General Hospital in Kalutara.
The suspects in connection with the shooting incident have been identified and the Kalutara North Police are conducting further investigations.
Initial investigations have revealed that two people had come to shoot the victim and the reason for the gunfire is a prolonged dispute between the two parties.
