Maj. Gen. Jagath Alwis assumes office as the Secretary to the Public Security Ministry at the Ministry premises in Battaramulla yesterday, Defence Ministry said.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa appointed Maj. Gen. Alwis to the new ministry on Dec10.
Under the purview of Cabinet Minister Rear Admiral (Retd) Dr. Sarath Weerasekara the Ministry administrates Sri Lanka Police, Civil Security Department, National Police Academy and the Department of Multi-Purpose Development Task Force (DMPDTF).
