Major General Ruwan Kulatunga has been appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena as the new Chief of National Intelligence (CNI).
The position comes against the backdrop of the resignation of former DIG Sisira Mendis, from this post. DIG Mendis recently testified before the Parliamentary Select committee on the Easter Sunday attacks.
Major Kulatunga was appointed as the Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Light Infantry. He has also served as the Commandant of Defence Services Command and Staff Collage Sapugaskanda.
