A majority of the recommendations tabled at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva have been implemented by the government, Rear Admiral Dr. Sarath Weerasekara said.
"The passing of a new constitutional amendment is the only remaining recommendation to be followed," he further said adding that he has notfied President Maithripala Sirisena in this regard.
At this year's 40th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, the UK will present a joint resolution on Sri Lanka. The resolution is et to include topics of accountability, reorganization and human rights in Sri Lanka.
It is reported that these proposals would be supported by several countries including Canada and Germany. Sri Lanka has supported the proposals put forward by these countries on previous occasions.
Rear Admiral Weerasekara said that his team would also constitute Sri Lanka's delegation at this year's UNHRC session which will commence on February 25 and conclude on March 22 in Geneva.
